Dubai Hotels

Cheap hotels in Dubai

Dubai is the name of one of seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates and is located at the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Dubai City – usually referred to simply as Dubai – is the main city in this emirate. Despite being located in an oil rich country, less then 3% of Dubai's economy hails from petroleum and natural gas. The main sources of income are instead the Jebel Ali free zone (JAFZ), service businesses and tourism. The aim of this site is to make it easier for prospective Dubai visitors to find wonderful Dubai hotels, Dubai apartments and other forms of Dubai accommodation.

Dubai attracts tourists from all over the world and offers an attractive blend of shopping, beach activities, cultural exhibitions, sports events and desert safaris. Dubai is also a world business hub and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has brought in a new influx of business travellers. It therefore comes as no surprise that Dubai consists of a mix of relaxing beach resorts and efficient business hotels where all sorts of high-tech equipment, secretary services, and meeting facilities can be found. During recent years, Dubai has even developed a rich profusion of industry-specific free zones throughout the city, such as Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City.

Dubai is home to some of the most exclusive hotels in the world, but finding comparatively cheap Dubai hotels are actually possible if you are willing to do some detective work. At this site, we have strived to pick hotels in many different price ranges, from fairly cheap Dubai accommodations to top-notch super exclusive Dubai hotels and Dubai resorts. When comparing prices, keep in mind that many Dubai hotels and Dubai resorts offers all-inclusive deals. The room price might look high, but if allyour meals, drinks and snacks are included in that price, the room can actually be really affordable. Mixed deals where you for instance eat breakfast and lunch at your hotel, and explore other Dubai restaurants in the evening, are also available.

Burj Dubai hotel

The Burj Dubai is a supertall skyscraper that that aims to become the tallest building in the world. The projected final height of the skyscraper is being kept a secret due to competition, but figured released by one of the contractors indicates that the final projected height might be 808 metres (2,651 feet), which is more then one-half of a mile.

Until February 2007, the Sears Tower was the building with most floors in the world, but the Sears Tower has now been bypassed by Burj Dubai. The current figure for Burj Dubai is an astonishing 138 floors. The Burj Dubai also holds the record for vertical concrete pumping (for a building), with a remarkable 498.2 metres (1,635 feet). Burj Dubai has therefore surpassed the previous record holder with a fairly broad margin, since the Taipei 101 only has 448 metres (1,470 feet) of vertical concrete pumping.

In July 2007, Burj Dubai had reached a height of 498.2 metres (1,635 feet) and had 138 floors. It surpassed the Petronas Twin Towers (452 metres / 1,483 feet) and became the second tallest building in the world. As soon as three more floors have been built, the Burj Dubai will surpass Taipei 101 and become the tallest building in the world. The next step is to challenge the 553.3 metre (1,815 feet) tall CN Tower and the 646.4 metres (2,121 feet) tall Warsaw Radio Mast, in order to become the tallest land-based structure in the world.

The Dubai Marina hotel

The Dubai Marina is a district in the heart of the “New Dubai”. This area is located on Interchange 5, between Jebel Ali Port and Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and the American University of Dubai. Once finished, it will be one of the largest man-made marinas in the world.

The Dubai Marina has been created by Emaar Properties, a United Arab Emirates based real estate development firm. When the marina is completely finished, it will include over 200 high-rise buildings and several supertall skyscrapers, such as the The Princess Tower, the Torch Dubai Marina, the Infinity Tower, the Marina Towers, the Number One Dubai Marina, the Marina Terrace, Le Rever, and the Horizon Tower.

The Dubai Marina will comprise an area of nearly 5 million square metres (over 50 million square feet) and contain the current 40 residential and hotel towers of the famous Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Dubai Palm Islands and its hotels

The Palm Islands in Dubai are the three biggest artificial islands in the world, but they are not quite finished yet. Commissioned by heikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in order to boost Dubai's tourism, the amazing Palm Islands are currently being constructed by United Arab Emirate based Nakheel Properties.

Each settlement will be formed as a palm tree and topped with a crescent. The three islands are named Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira. The creation of Palm Jumeirah commenced in June 2001, and reclamation work for Palm Jebel Ali started soon afterwards. Palm Deira was not unannounced until 2004.

The islands will be filled with residential centres, entertainment facilities and leisure opportunities. The first two islands will consist of roughly 100 million cubic metres of sand and rock, while the bigger Palm Deira will comprise an astonishing 1 billion cubic metres of sand and rock and be almost as big in size as Paris.

The Palm Islands are located off the coast of the city of Dubai, and will add 520 km of Persian Gulf beaches to the United Arab Emirates. Between the three islands there will be over 100 luxurious hotels for visitors to enjoy, and there will also be elite residential beach side villas and apartments. Marinas are naturally a must in this type of project, and you can expect to see many water theme parks, sport facilities, health spas, shopping malls and restaurants.
